Every once in a while, a piece of art finds its way in front of you that just strikes you to the core. Today is one of those days for me.
While working at my desk, I was listening to recordings from one of my favorite contemporary composers, Eric Whitacre. He made a big splash recently with his Virtual Choir on YouTube. When Whitacre's setting of the e.e. cummings poem "i thank You God for this day" came on, it stopped me in my tracks.
The cummings poem speaks to the core of what and who we are, and Whitacre's stunning music adds resonance to the words in that inexplicable way that only great music can.
Please visit this new entry on my videos page for a video of e.e. cummings reading his own poem, followed by a link to a recording of the Whitacre setting.
Take some time today to sit in silence and go deep within yourself for a little communion with the Infinite.
