Today, I was introduced to what apparently is a very well-used web-based service that has appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal. Thumbtack matches service providers with clients, primarily at the local level.
Service providers create a profile for free, which has many nice features including photo, video and audio uploads, social media integration, and multiple ways to show your credentials and background.

Thumbtack gives you ways to earn points and bump your listing up in their local search feature. I'm already at spot number one in my zip code because of my extensive work with this website. When I switch the search feature to "online only" however, I rank 13th nationally, and most of those listings under music are for custom music creation and composition.
I will be interested to see if listing here brings me more private lessons clients. Stay tuned.
